Grand Re-opening of the Painted Kiva
at Coronado State Monument  (Bernalillo, NM)
The Painted Kiva is one of New Mexico's most visited ceremonial pueblo kivas. Over the past three years, the kiva has undergone major restoration to correct structural problems and preserve the painted murals. The Painted Kiva will reopen at Coronado State Monument for public access on Sunday, May 6, 2010. Visitors are allowed to climb down a wooden ladder to the inside of the below ground kiva.

Fiesta of Cultures  -- Viva la Fiesta!
A celebration of local traditions including Pueblo, Hispanic and Anglo including carving a drum from a cottonwood stump; dying skeins of wool for a blanket; or forging a horseshoe with a hammer and anvil.

2010 Calendar of Events
El Camino Real International Heritage Center is a New Mexico State Monument
 
Location:     The Center is located South of Socorro on I-25, Exit 115, follow the signs.
                        If you're still lost . . . click here for map and driving instructions
Monument Hours:  Open 5 days a week, 8:30 am – 5 pm.   Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.  
                        Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter.
Admission:  Single adult visit, $5.00. Children 16 and younger free. Sundays free for NM residents with ID. 
                        Wednesdays free for NM resident senior citizens (60+) with ID.  Free for Museum of NM Foundation
                        and ECRIHC Foundation members. Free admission for all school groups.
                        Free admission to all active military. 
Special Events: All special events at the Center, such as those listed above on our Calendar of Events, are
                        included with the normal Monument admission.

Christmas at Kuaua
at Coronado State Monument  (Bernalillo, NM)
Free admission.  The grounds of Coronado State Monument will be decorated with hundreds of flickering luminarias and thousands of Christmas lights.  Friends of Coronado State Monument will sponsor a program of music, traditional Pueblo dancing and Native American storytelling.
