Special Sunday dance presentation --

"La Danza de la Pluma" from Mexico

Special performance of La Danza de la Pluma, The Feather Dance, by Grupo de Promesa from Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico.  The beautifully costumed dance tells the story of the struggle between the Aztec ruler, Moctezuma, and the Spanish conquistador, Hernán Cortez.

ENCHANTED SKIES STAR PARTY (ESSP)
The ESSP is one of the premier star parties for amateur astronomers in the Southwest with lectures, evening observing and other activities at several locations over four days. El Camino Real International Heritage Center is the official "dark sky" nightly observing site with a chuck wagon dinner on Saturday night. A celebration of Mexico’s Day of the Dead, celebration will feature guest lecture, storytelling, sugar skull decoration, and viewing of altar installation.

Celebrate the Center’s 4th anniversary with living history demonstrations of period-life on El Camino Real, special performances, and more.

El Camino Real International Heritage Center is a New Mexico State Monument
 
Location:     The Center is located South of Socorro on I-25, Exit 115, follow the signs.

Monument Hours:  Open 6 days a week, 8:30 am – 5 pm.   Closed Tuesdays.  
                        Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter.
Admission:  Single adult visit, $5.00. Children 16 and younger free.
                       Sundays free for NM residents with ID at all New Mexico State Monuments
                        Wednesdays free for NM resident senior citizens (60+) with ID.
                       School Groups free 
                       Free for Museum of NM Foundation and ECRIHC Foundation members,
                                 U.S. military veterans
Special Events: All special events at the Center, such as those listed above on our Calendar of Events, are included with the normal Monument admission.

El Camino Real International Heritage Center is a New Mexico State Monument and is operated by the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.  Educational programs and activities at the Center are made possible through generous contributions by El Camino Real IHC Foundation and Museums of New Mexico Foundation.

Christmas at Kuaua - Coronado State Monument (Bernallilo, NM)
Enjoy luminarias and christmas lights along the grounds of Coronado State Monument. Friends of Coronado State Monument will sponsor activities for children, traditional music, Pueblo dancing, Native American story telling, and the arrival of Santa Claus at 8pm.  For info: 505-867-5351

LA GRAN PASTORELA - A Traditional New Mexico Christmas Play
Celebrate the winter holidays with the centuries old New Mexico traditional La Pastorela, the Shepherd's play, performed live by La Gran Pastorela group from Belen.

Light Among the Ruins - Jemez State Monument (Jemez Springs, NM)
The ruins of San Jose de los Jemez Mission Church and Giusewa Village will be decorated with hundreds of traditional luminarias. Program will include Native American flute music, Jemez Pueblo dancers, and a visit from Santa at 7:30pm.  For info: 575-829-3530
